1. This is my daughter Phyllida Jane.
You say: Do you go by Phyll, perchance, Phyllida Jane?
You think: If you could redo the naming, name her Phillipa instead.
2. These are my sons Archie and Oswald.
You say: Nice names. Archie is very youthful, and Oswald is very strong-sounding.
You think: Archie and Oswald? Archie... too nickname-ish. Oswald... good name. Archie and Oswald... not a good match.
3. This is my daughter Kahtreena Nevaeh.
You say: Do you mind being called Trina or Kat, Kahtreena?
You think: Hmmmm... weird spelling.
4. These are my triplets Duncan, Oscar, and Stella.
You say: Wow! Triplets!
You think: Duncan... good name. Oscar... not particularly fond of it. Stella... no thanks.
5. These are my daughters Georgia Peach, Carolina Sunshine, and Virginia Belle.
You say: Those are nice names, girls. Do you have any nicknames?
You think: Get real!
6. These are my twins Eve and Zoe, they share the same middle name, Marie.
You say: Lovely names. Those names are wonderful! Bear them proudly, girls! And bear them well.
You think: At least give them different middle names.
7. This my son Townsend Kennedy.
You say: Do you have a nickname, Townsend Kennedy?
You think: Weird. Downright weird.
8. These are my sons Abraham Lincoln "Abe" and Thomas Jefferson "Tom".
You say: You must be proud to bear the names of two famous presidents of the U.S.
You think: Well... I guess the intention was good. Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson were good role models.
9. These are my daughters Kalli and Maddi.
You say: Nice to meet you.
You think: I like the spellings C-a-l-l-i-e and M-a-d-d-y (or M-a-d-d-i-e) better. They also make better nicknames.
10. This is my son and daughter Beau and Belle.
You say: Lovely names, Beau and Belle.
You think: Could be worse, right?
11. This is my daughter Beatrice Louise "Bea".
You say: I must say, Bea, that your name is gorgeous.
You think: Nice name! That's a name worth having.
12. These are my daughters Riley, Mason, and my sons Kelly and Aubrey.
You say: Can I call you Leah, May, Lee, and Brey?
You think: Switch the names so the sons are Riley and Mason and the daughters are Kelly and Aubrey, and everything will be a-okay.
