Peter Riley and Jack Kasey are identical twins from England. The 8 year old brothers are glued to each other, and one is never seen without the other. Both absolutely love playing baseball. They hope their new family will allow them to play for a team once they get settled. They have never travelled very far outside of their neighborhood, but they have heard plenty of stories from classmates and the other kids living near them. They're excited to travel to America, and they both want to try camping someday.María Carmen is a 6 year old girl from Mexico. The city she lived in was rather rough, and her mother feared for her safety every day. She was put up for adoption with the hope that a nice American family would adopt her, and raise her away from the violence of her current city. María is terrified of leaving her mother, but she does understand that it's to protect her. Despite knowing both English and Spanish, she a bit shy and doesn't talk much, preferring to communicate with people through drawings and other art. She has a cat, simply named Gato, that she hopes the family will let her keep, and she also hopes she will be allowed to stay in contact with her mother. Please keep the agency updated on how everyone adjusts!

We were thrilled to welcome Peter, Jack, and María into our home!We signed Peter and Jack up to play baseball as soon as the season started. They were put on the same team, which they were thrilled about. We have taken them on a few excursions already to broaden their horizons. We are already planning a camping trip for this summer for them. María was not happy here at first. She rarely spoke, preferring to draw or play with Gato. However, she and Phoebe have become best friends, which has made her much happier. The girls like to do arts and crafts together. We exchange letters with María's mother regularly.

Katya Svetlana, Elizaveta Sonya, and Fyodor Serafim are siblings from Russia. Their father left for work one day shortly after Fyodor was born, and never returned home. Their mother died last year of unknown causes. All three speak fluent Russian, but they're just learning English.Katya, the oldest, is 13. School has never been easy for her, and learning English is no different. There are too many exceptions to English grammar rules, and they frustrate her. One thing she is good at, though, is soccer. She has been playing since she was six, and she loves it. She spends almost all her free time playing on the school's field with her friends or siblings.9 year old Elizaveta is the middle child. She is having a slightly easier time with English than Katya, but she still gets confused, too. Where Katya prefers to stick with Russian, though, Elizaveta at least attempts to string together more than just a sentence or two in English. Elizaveta loves school. She has a thirst for knowledge, and enjoys experimenting with new classes. She isn't afraid to try something new if it looks interesting. She isn't really dedicated to one particular activity because she has too much fun trying many different things.7 year old Fyodor is the youngest of the siblings. He has had the easiest time catching onto English. He still has difficulty speaking it sometimes, but he understands it incredibly well. He doesn't at all mind translating things back into Russian for his sisters if they don't understand what's being said. He loves playing soccer with his sister, and the game can get pretty rough when the two of them play. Fyodor also loves to dance. His mother put him in dance classes when he was five after he begged to try it, and he loved every minute. A few of his classmates poke fun at him for being in dance, but he loves it too much to care. Please keep us updated on how your adoptees are adjusting!

LN: VincentDH: Christopher Jacob - 33
DW: Summer Jeanna - 33AD: Katya Savannah - 14
AD: Elizabeth Sonya "Eliza" - 10
AS: Theodore Scott "Teddy" - 8
DS: Damian Connor - 7
DD: Anika Faith - 4It has been a year since we adopted Katya, Eliza, and Teddy. The three have fit into our family splendidly and we all have learned so much. Because Christopher was also adopted from Russia at a young age and his family practiced Russian with the family, he has retained his native language. This has been of great comfort for the kids and they don't take it for granted. When we have met up with other families in the area that have adopted children from Russia, ours realize how lucky they are to have Christopher who always has been able to communicate with them and help them transition from Russia to America. As a family, we talked about changing names. Although hesitant, they realized others (especially school aged children) would benefit from having either a more English name or nickname. Each name was close to his or her original name. Fyodor's changed the most, but after finding out what a Teddy Bear was, he decided that Teddy would be the best name for him. Katya has struggled the most throughout the year and she is going to repeat 8th grade. Thankfully, with a May birthday, she will be far behind her age-level peers. We have helped her immensely, but learning another language is difficult, even with Christopher and her siblings being able to help her. She often gets upset about this and will run to her room and slam the door. She has a love of music and will blast that to avoid us. The best thing for her has been playing soccer on the school team. She loves it and is a great middle fielder- she can run up and down the fields barely breaking a sweat. Eliza, opposite of Katya, has skyrocketed in the classroom and at home. She is fluent now in spoken English and is blasting on with written language. We are sure she will be at grade level by middle school. We worry then that the pressure will be hard for her and we fear if she is not at grade level, she'll only fall behind for the rest of her schooling. We have worked a tremendous amount with her due to her constant desire to learn. She has a good group of neighboring girls that she is friends with and this has encouraged her all the more. Of all the kids, Anika looks up to her the most. She loves following her big sister around and Eliza rarely seems to mind.

Aharon Yaakov is an active 6 year old boy from Israel. He speaks fluent Hebrew, but he is also learning English. He loves playing games outside, digging up worms in the dirt, and catching bugs. He has been with several foster families over the last couple years, and he is really excited to have "real brothers and sisters to play with."Idriya Sigal is also from Israel. The 4 year old loves painting and drawing, especially when she is creating something for someone else. The little girl speaks clear Hebrew, and she is quickly catching onto English as well. She was put up for adoption at birth, and has been in an orphanage since then. She doesn't quite understand the concept of becoming part of a new family, but she does know that there will be new people to draw with. She is looking forward to showing off her skills.Ivanna Elena is a 2 year old from Russia. She has taken her own time in learning to walk, but now that she is up on her own two feet, she skipped right past walking and went to running. She enjoys chasing everything from other kids to butterflies in the garden. She's taking her own time learning to talk, too, but she has a little bit of a grip on both Russian and English. If it's a word she knows, like "cat", she will point at the object, say its name in English, and repeat it in Russian. She loves being read to, and won't hesitate to pull a book off the shelf and hand it to somebody who can read it to her. Please keep the agency updated on how everyone adjusts!
