[Facts] Re: meaning??
in reply to a message by renell
Unless your name was taken from a surname, your name is, indeed, a French first name -- a French variation of the Latin name "Renata", meaning "reborn" (from whence also comes the word "Renaissance", the "rebirth" of European civilization following the Dark Ages).
Here are two handy books where you will find your name listed, although in each book your name is spelled "Renelle":
The Melting Pot Book of Baby Names, by Connie Lockhart Ellefson
The New Age Baby Name Book, by Sue Browder
I believe both these books are still in print, so check your local bookstore.
Thanks for saying this is an interesting site -- and, welcome!

I have to do a research paper on the meaning of my name Renee. I know that it means "Reborn" but I was hoping to get more information on this (some type of hystorical background).
