With Melisande... it's a beautiful name, but it's the S&M-dominatrix villian of a series of very popular fantasy books. The Kushiel (and upcoming Imriel) trilogies, Jacqueline Carey.
Judging by the number of people I've encountered reading these, there are a bunch of others who's associate the name the same way... probably not a good thing, without at least knowing the kid.
