Help[Facts] Re: meaning of "Taimur"

Hi, I know that Timur or Taimur means Iron but Im just not sure its in mongolian. I think it means Iron in turkish because somebody told me that Timur Lenk was from a tribe that spoke a language from the turkish family. Have you ever heard of this? Im not really sure of this. Could someone tell me more on this subject. Thanks
