Bart or Barty as a NN for Bartholomew only serves to remind me of a crass and crude cartoon, The Simpsons. I don't know if you have this cartoon Down Under, but it isn't something that I really want to name my kid after.
Now, Barty as a NN for Bartemius is a different story...Although neither Barty Crouch, Sr. nor Barty Crouch, Jr. are exactly fantastic role models (you'll know why if my assumption that you've at least seen the movies is correct), I do like the name.
