[Opinions] Frilly?
in reply to a message by Talia
Why everyone thinks this name is TOO FRILLY? To me it sounds quite normal. Is it too long or difficult to pronounce? Are names Victoria or Alexandra less frilly?

The original name is Calanthe. Adding the extra syllable to make it Calanthia does make it frillier.

No, Victoria and Alexandra are not less frilly than Calanthia, and I love both of those names, and I love Calanthia, too. I guess if you have the kind of taste that likes long, four syllable girls' names that end in A (and I do) you love these names, and if you don't, you consider them frilly.

Hm.. My name's Natalia and I get called that all the time and I never shorten it, except btn :) Nobody has ever told me that my name is frilly. In fact, I think my name is even more difficult to pronounce than Calanthia. Still I don't think Calanthia sounds frilly. I simply don't like short names that sound like nicknames... :)
