I would pronounce it Shoh-ahn. I had a relative with a similar name, Joan. He was Galician, and I think Xoán is the Galician form of John. So, not only would I pronounce it Shoh-ahn but it is correctly pronounced Shoh-ahn. =D I think others would totally massacre it though. You pronounce it ShO - AnThis O sound isn't the same in Galician as in English. You say the O like the O in operation. It's a very short O sound and nothing like the tradition sound of oh.the á also means you say the 'a' a bit louder than normal. And the a is like the a in apple.
