There's every indication that the name is French as you can see, for example, at http://tr.im/mThd. Given that Robitaille has been anglicized as Rab(i)toy and Rob(i)toy, there's a good chance that this is also the origin of Abbatoy and Abbotoy, though I've found no direct evidence. Only genealogical research could determine this one way or another.
