The youngest Girard son Daniel, outgoing and confident, decides to pursue his lifelong dream to become an actor and purchases a small flat in the heart of Paris after graduating high school. After a few years of eking out a meager existence doing commercials and extra work, he is discovered by a young American director looking for a fresh face to be the leading man in his new movie, and Daniel is picked. The movie is a resounding success in both the US and overseas, and it launches Daniel's long, successful acting career as a leading man. In his mid-20s, he falls head over heels for a young American ingenue who is just breaking into the business. They get engaged only two months after meeting, and are married a year later. They have two children, but due to their busy work schedules and wandering eyes, they are divorced five years later. Over the next ten years, Daniel gains quite the reputation as a bachelor and playboy, but he finally meets his match in the form of a notoriously career-driven Parisian heiress whom the gossip columns had long since declared a spinster. Now much more mature and settled, Daniel marries her, and they settle with their three children in a mansion in the south of France.
