Correct me if I'm wrong, but I once knew a Polish man with the surname Czerwaty and he said it means Red Wool, but Czerewaty means cherry cotton I think. I don't know if the names are related or not, but they are similiar since polish is "Cz" and Russian is "Ch", and polish is "Wa" and russian is "Va".
