I pronounce it MIE-e. And that's really what I'm afraid of. I don't think it would be common, per se, but not as rare as I would hope. The situation I'm trying to avoid is this: My husband's poor sister Amanda had to use both first and last names because there was another Amanda with the same first, middle, AND last initial. 5 Amandas in their preschool class. Now THAT is an overly popular name.
