Lord and Lady Lockwood are passionately fighting for equal rights for “half-breeds,” as Ambrose’s second-in-command, Lord
Theobald Quartz, is half-elfin. Lord Quartz has been a valuable asset to
Ambrose and to Kriana as a whole – why shouldn’t he be treated as such?
As to the Great Matter, the Lockwoods are in a similar position as
Princess Hermione and
Prince William, as
Ambrose was a lord before the war, and, though Flora’s mother was of noble birth, when
Cassandra (née Rey) Arkwright married
Cosmas Arkwright – a poor boat-builder – for love,
Cassandra was disinherited. Therefore,
Flora was a peasant before being given a title by
Queen Minerva.
In other news,
Basil has begun warrior’s training with his mother;
Petra has begun studying magic with her father, although
Ambrose can already tell that her powers are not suited to Healing.
Agatha hasn’t shown any sign of magic.
Also, as the Arch Mage ages, and rumors float about that
Princess Hermione is the favorite to replace him,
Flora has suggested once or twice to
Ambrose that he apply for the job once the Arch Mage dies. When
Ambrose argued that his powers were not as great as
Princess Hermione’s,
Flora pointed out that
Ambrose was “no less great,” simply because his talents were in a different field than Hermione’s.
Ambrose has yet to make a decision on the matter, but he
is considering it…
