Year One: Family Event: Accident
Wil and Bekah were married eight weeks after their college graduation. Wil, having played in a band all through college, graduated with a degree in music therapy and is currently playing the lead guitar and vocals in his college band. The band was signed to a record deal by a recording company. Bekah has always wanted to work in a library--she got a degree in American and British Literature and went right to work. She is thinking about getting a master's degree in Library Science, but she's content for now. Four months ago, Wil was involved in a horseback riding accident. He was thrown when his horse spooked, and he ended up breaking his right arm and cracking a few ribs. Thankfully, his head was fully protected by his helmet. Doctors have cleared Wil for all of his former activities, but he still has some pain in the arm, especially if he's stressed or if he's been using it a lot. The break hasn't greatly affected his ability to play his guitar, but Wil has found that he can't participate in the all-day jam sessions like he used to.
Year Two: Birth: b/b; straight brown hair, amber eyes; straight brown hair, brown eyes
Wil and Bekah were ecstatic when they found out they were expecting a baby...and even more surprised when they found out that it was twins! Their sons, Bryan and Elijah, were born five and a half weeks early, but are both healthy. Both boys have straight brown hair, but Bryan's eyes have an amber tint to them while Elijah's are pure chocolate brown.
Year Three: Birth: g; curly brown hair, brown eyes
Miranda Hope Thompson joined the family three weeks ago. Baby Mira was a surprise--Wil and Bekah didn't expect another child so soon after their twins. Mira was born two days after the twins' first birthday. Bekah certainly has her hands full and has cut down her hours at the library to part-time in order to stay at home more often with the kids. Wil has still been having trouble with arm pain from the break, but he isn't willing to admit that it might be affecting his work.
Year Four: Random: Long-Term Goal Accomplished
Seven months ago, Wil's band recorded a hit song that stayed at the top of the charts for 10 weeks, and in the top 5 for an additional 8 weeks. Last month, after riding the wave of fame that came with their song, Wil decided that it was time to move on. He's still dealing with pain in his arm, and he decided that it would be a wise career move to start offering music lessons--guitar, piano, and voice. Wil has been much happier in the past month, and he's able to be home much more frequently than he was before. He's very much enjoying watching his three toddlers run around the house.
Year Five: Job: Lose Job
This year, Bekah lost her job at the library. The library was making cuts, and since she only worked part-time, they decided to cut her hours entirely. Wil and Bekah aren't too upset with this development because it means she can stay home with the kids and take care of them full-time. Wil is doing well in the music lesson industry, and he has a clientele of about 45 students who see him weekly or biweekly for lessons at a variety of levels. Wil enjoys what he does and is looking forward to introducing his kids to formal lessons once they go to Kindergarten in a few years. For now, they just bang around on the piano and toy accordion and xylophone. They seem to enjoy making music, although it does sometimes give Bekah a headache.
Year Six: Family Event: Birth: g, straight dark brown hair, brown eyes
Wil and Bekah welcome their fourth child in six years--Jenna Rose Thompson! Jenna was born two days before her due date, and she had a shock of dark brown hair when she was born.
Year Seven: Adoption: 3-4 yo France g
Wil and Bekah hadn't really planned on adopting a child; however, when some of their close friends adopted twins from Africa two years ago, they decided to look into it. This past year, the family was given the privilege of adopting 3-year-old Julie Tatienne from France. Julie was orphaned last summer, but since her parents were dual US/French citizens, Julie was put up for adoption in the United States as well as in France. Jenna and Mira were especially excited about their new sister, though Jenna doesn't understand a whole lot yet. Julie has adjusted well to living in the US, even though she's only been with the Thompsons for a few months.
Year Eight: You Choose: Pet
This year, Wil and Bekah finally caved and bought the kids the dog that they've been asking for. Wil and Bekah took the kids to the local ASPCA and picked out a yellow labrador mix that the kids all thought was adorable. "China" is a four year old female who is very affectionate and loves kids. Her favorite activity is fetch, and with five kids, it keeps her busy all day long.
Year Nine: Birth: b; straight light brown hair, green eyes
Isaiah John Thompson was born this year! He is the first of the Thompson children to have green eyes, and Bekah thinks they look very nice on him. Wil and Bekah hadn't particularly planned on having more kids, but Bryan and Elijah were excited to finally have another boy in the house--to help even out the genders.
Year Ten: Adoption: 11-12 yo Canada g
This year, the family adopted Laura from Canada. When Bekah saw Laura's picture on a website, she knew that the little girl with Down Syndrome was meant to be in their family. She and Wil took some special parenting classes about children with special needs, and pretty soon Laura was a member of the family. Intellectually, Laura functions at about the level of a five year old, so she fits in pretty well with the other kids, and they accept her as she is. The boys don't put up with anybody who teases her, and Laura looks up to her younger brothers.
Year Eleven: Random: Birth: g; straight blond hair, green eyes
Wil and Bekah have welcomed another little girl to the family. Bekah never expected to be having children in her 30s, but the entire family has welcomed baby Katherine Joy Thompson with open arms. Baby Katie is the most unusual in terms of looks of the Thompson children--she has her mother's green eyes, but no one is quite sure where the blond hair came from. Wil speculates that it will grow darker as she gets older.
