Event 1: Adoption
Luke & Kendall after years of trying for a child without success decided to look into adoption. They heard about an orphanage in Germany encouraging international adoptions due to the sheer number of children in it's care and decided to look into it. They intended to adopt a baby or toddler, but upon arriving met a lovely young lady named Katarina Sibylle Bach whom had been abandoned at the orphanage as a toddler and had lived there her whole life. The sixteen-year old girl enthralled them and they decided instead to adopt her, and bring her home to New York City.
Event 2: Family Event (Vacation)
Not long after bringing Kat home to America Luke and Kendall decided that it would be good for her to see more of her new home country. Luke took a month long leave of absence from work and they went on an old fashioned road trip around the country.
Event 3: Family Event (Terminall Illness)
Kat was well settled in school and had already lost a lot of her accent with graduation not far away when the Whitshire's got the sobering news that Luke's grandfather, Joe, had been diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer. Doctor's treated in invasively in hopes of prolonging his life, but after awhile Joe declined further treatment, choosing to enjoy the short time he had left. Luke, Kendall & Kat went and saw him one last time before he passed at the age of 78.
Event 4: Random (Someone is in an accident)
Kat was 19 now and had not long graduated high school much to everyone's delight. She'd decided to stay local, not wanting to leave her parents after waiting so long to have parents at all, so is attending NYU, studying Psychology. She was on her way to class one day in the middle of winter when she slipped on some ice on the pavement and fell, breaking her leg. She was so embarrassed, but it was clean break and one of the EMT's who arrived on the scene was kinda cute!
Event 5: Adoption
As much as Luke and Kendall love Kat, a part of them missed that they had never been able to raise a child right from birth, so they registered with more adoption agencies in hopes of finding a precious baby to make their own. Eventually they got a call that a teenage mother in Canada had picked them from hundreds of couples... She liked that they had adopted a teenager before and thought that showed an accepting, open-minded family just like what she wanted for her son. At this stage the birth mother, Jessica, doesn't want to keep in touch, but Luke & Kendall have promised her that she will be welcome to re-establish contact with Joey in the future, should she decide she's ready.
Event 6: Birth
It's not unheard of for couples who have had trouble conceiving to adopt, and then find themselves pregnant - and that's exactly what happened to Luke & Kendall. They loved having baby Joey around, and Kat was the most amazing big sister. They had their family and they were so happy... And then Kendall started getting sick. Pregnancy never even crossed their minds as they'd accepted a long time ago that they would never get pregnant naturally, so when they went to the doctor and was told that Kendall was expecting, you could have blown them over with a feather! Sure enough however, expecting she was and when their first scan showed 2 heartbeats, they were thrilled. Eli & Nate's delivery was difficult and Kendall eventually had a c-sec to deliver her sons, but they couldn't be happier with their darling sons who both look so like their Daddy, though Eli has his Mom's eyes.

After the twins birth's, Luke and Kendall decided not to go back on birth control as they figured that the twin's conception was a miracle, and they felt it was unlikely to hit twice, and they'd be so blessed if it did. Sure enough though, obviously whatever had stopped them conceiving naturally originally was no longer an issue as Kendall quickly found herself pregnant again. Kat at this point found this brilliantly funny as she teased her parents about going from no children, to raising a teenager, to having 4 children under the age of 4. In the lead up to the babies birth, Kat made the decision to move in with a few off her friends from college as she found it difficult to study with her younger siblings always creating so much noise, and as she was in her final year of a Psychology degree, she needed to be able to concentrate. Little Sophia's birth was a scheduled c-sec after the traumatic birth of the twins, and she's the splitting image of Kendall, just with her grandmother's curly hair.
Event 8: Celebration
When Kat graduated College with a degree in Psychology, everyone was so proud, but no one more so than her loving parents. Who would have thought that that shy orphan they'd fallen in love with in Germany 8 years before would become the vibrant confident woman they saw in front of them. Kat's already received a few job offers, but has decided that she wants to work with youth, perhaps even orphans like herself, and help them learn ways to stop the cycle of abuse, mistrust, and abandonment that so many of them have accepted as reality. It's a noble and worthwhile cause, and everyone is so proud of her.
Event 9: Random (Move)
With Kat out on her own and the little one's all getting more active, Luke & Kendall have made the difficult decision to move out of the city and into the suburbs. They found a great place not too far away in Nassau County so Luke can still commute into the city for work, and the house has an actual yard for the kids to play in.
Event 10: Random (Adopt a Stray)
The Whitshire's had got quite comfortable in Nassau County, to the point that they wished they'd made the move earlier. They'd been there for 9 months or so when Kat rang and asked them how they'd feel about a dog. They were naturally fairly confused, but Kat explained that there was a lovely little terrier dog that occupied an alley near her apartment that she saw every day, and he seemed like such a sweet thing. She couldn't have a dog at her place, but thought perhaps a little dog would be perfect for her parents. Kendall drove into to city to see this dog that Kat had fallen in love with, and one look into his big brown eyes and Kendall was done for as well. They took him to a local vet who advised that, other than being malnourished, he was in pretty good shape and estimated that he was about 4 years old. Kat named him after stating that he looked like a picture of Sigmund Freud in her text book. The little ones of course have shortened that to 'Siggy' which is what he's really known by.

Kat got married! Remember that EMT that came to her rescue all those years ago when she broke her leg? Well they bumped into each other while ago and instantly recognised each other. They dated for about 18 months before getting engaged, and now are husband and wife. The wedding was simple, just a church service followed by a reception for family and friends at Luke & Kendall's home. Sophia was a flower girl and was so adorable, and Joey, Eli & Nate all looked very handsome in their little tuxes. It was a magical day, but seeing Kat so happy was just wonderful.

The day Kat announced she was pregnant was a very joyous one, and Kat can not remember a more emotional day in her life. The first 16 years were so filled with sadness, and she still remembers sitting in that small room as the American couple were introduced to the children, wishing that a couple like them would choose her - and they did. The last 12 years of her life had been so different all because of them. Because of them, she was a daughter, a sister, a US citizen, a college graduate, working a job she was so passionate about, a wife, and soon a mother. Felix was born a week past her due date, and Kat had felt strongly about wanting a German name to honor her roots, but honoring Lucas was also very important.

Felix's birth had raised unanswered questions for Kat, she loved him so fiercely that she couldn't comprehend a mother abandoning a child as her mother had done her. She spoke to Kendall one night about it, and Kendall understood her question as it was one she'd often pondered herself. With Luke, Kendall & Chris's support, Kat decided to contact the orphanage where she was raised and see if they could help her locate her birth mother and answer these lingering questions. Now that Kat was an adult, the orphanage was able to release her full notes to her, including a copy of the note that was left at the orphanage with her, written by a woman named Ilse. Kat hired a private investigator to track down Ilse, and was amazed when only 3 months later they had a location for her. Kat & Chris travelled to Germany, leaving Felix with his grandparents to find Ilse, and find her they did, though she was not what Kat had been expecting. Ilse was only 42, which meant that she was just 14 when she gave birth to Kat. Ilse broke down when Kat told her who she was, and Ilse explained that she hadn't wanted to give her up, but she had been raped by her step-father, and she refused to let her beautiful daughter grow up in that house, so she'd left her at the orphanage to have a chance at a better life. Kat & Ilse bonded that trip, and Ilse has promised to come to America and visit her grandson who Kat told her shared her blue eyes.

When Kat discovered she was pregnant again not long after returning from Germany she was surprised as she and Chris hadn't been trying. After the initial shock wore off she was very happy however. Joey, Eli, Nate & Sophia were looking forward to another nephew, or neice, and the grandparents were over the moon. Kat's pregnancy progressed much as Felix's had, so when they had their 20 week scan and found out that they were having twins there were shocked as it was very unexpected. Chris was beyond happy when the tech then told them that both twins were girls, and he started having visions of little girls who looked just like Kat. Next to Chris, no one was more excited about the pending birth than Sophia. Having been raised with 3 brothers, and then a nephew, the thought of more little girls around had her dancing in the tree tops! The twins arrived a few weeks early and, keeping with the theme they'd started with Felix were given german first names, and honoring middle names.

Having been so fortunate to have been adopted herself, Kat had always known that one day she wanted to give another child the same chance she'd had. After Lena & Rose's first birthday, she told Chris she wanted to do it, and she'd already found the place. Kat and Chris used the same international adoption agency that Luke & Kendall had used to find her, but rather than Germany, Kat & Chris's search lead them to Russia. Kat wanted to find someone like her, a teenager whom no one else had wanted, but when they went into the toddler room at the orphanage, her eyes were drawn to a screaming child in a filthy crib in the corner and she fell in love. All thoughts of adopting an older child fled her mind as she went to comfort the obviously sick little boy, and one look into his big brown eyes she was lost. It took almost 12 months for them to bring Dimitri home, but he's here now and Kat & Chris couldn't be happier.
Event 16: Random (Go back to School)
Kendall, having been a writer since her late teens, recently decided to back to school as research for her next novel. It's a story that's been swirling around in her head for years, but she's never been confident enough to write it as to do the story justice she'd need to have an in depth knowledge of anthropology... and there is only so much on the subject you can learn from TV! With the kids all older now, she decided that it was the perfect time to go back to school to learn all the things she'd need to know to right what she hopes will be the next times best seller!
Event 17: Family Event (Birth)
Kat & Chris hadn't planned on having any more kids, but nature thought otherwise and Kat found herself pregnant once again. She loved kids though, so as much as it wasn't great timing she was pleased. This pregnancy was tougher than Felix & the twins combined, and she ended up at home on bed rest in her third trimester. To make things a bit more exciting this time around, they'd elected not to find out the sex of the baby, though people had a great time guessing. Their fifth child, and third daughter, arrived early and was small, but perfect.
Event 18: Random (Life Long Dream)
Kendall finally finished her novel. 'A Passage in Time', has been an idea floating around in her head for years, and she finally finished it! It's had glowing reviews and is on all the critics must read lists.. there's even a rumour that Hollywood wants to talk to her about a movie deal!
