In the Kingdom of RossinestThese five years have been busy ones for Rossinest. Queen Mary has borne more single-birth children to the King, and the Kingdom is overjoyed. Though Queen Honora was beloved by the King and his people, the twelve years since her death have eased the sting of her loss. The new queen's five children are equal brothers and sisters to the old queen's seven children, especially in their father's eyes. Molly has taken to motherhood well, and though still young and pretty, she rules the royal household with skill and vigor. She treats the children as if they are all her own, though it is clear that the children are of different parentage. The children are all attractive, products of their handsome father and beautiful, yet different, mothers. Honora's light eyes have been passed on to many of her children, especially Adeline, who looks more like her mother the late Queen daily. Molly's children tend to have darker, curlier hair, with the exception of golden Arthur.Just last month, the Queen gave birth to what she and the King believe is her final child. James now has twelve children, beating even his father's ten, and with the even dozen and the five youngest born alone, James feels that the succession of his crown is safe hands. He feels his age creeping up on him in these recent years, and though his children keep him young, running a Kingdom does not. His hair is mostly gray these days and though his borders are peaceful, his people prosperous, and his children hale and hearty, he feels a certain sense of foreboding that he cannot quite put his finger on.The Dowager Queen is beloved of all of her grandchildren, though her health has been in a bit of a precarious spot these days. The mother of ten children, she finds herself now with 37 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren so far. She had lived a long and beautiful life, and her children have begun to think that she will not be with them for much longer.Adeline has become a lovely young woman in the past five years. She looks just like her mother, and her gray-green eyes are the subject of many a poem and song by young admirers. Adeline, however, has eyes only for one. A few years ago, one of the older princes of Weland came to Rossinest to expand his horizons and his learning. Weland follows the same ultimogeniture tradition as Rossinest, and as the oldest son of his family with many younger brothers and sisters, he does not expect to inherit the throne. Regardless, the prince is a courtly and intelligent young man. Adeline met him the day of his arrival at the palace and the two have been dear friends ever since. Adeline helped him learn the language, and over the years Prince Alberich, who goes by Roan in Rossinest, and Princess Adeline fell in love. Adeline shared her troubles with him, especially those she could not bring to her father or her siblings. Her discomfort with the new Queen, her care for her half-siblings...her desire for one of Honora's children to inherit. Roan has been kind and understanding to her, but encourages her to try and put such feelings behind. A little over a year ago, Roan asked King James for his daughter's hand in marriage. James, who loves Adeline very much, accepted without hesitation, and the young royal couple was married a few months ago to great public celebration. The newlyweds intend to spend a few years in Weland before returning to Rossinest, and then splitting their time between the two lands. The twins Genevieve and Johanna are beginning to grow into their beauty as well. They look strikingly like the Dowager Queen in her youth, resembling their father more than their late mother. They are well known for their musical skill, now matched with dancing skill and already have many suitors clamoring for their attention. They adore Molly and their little half-siblings and help in the nursery often. They tend to think that their older sister is overreacting to the inheritance situation and think that she might simply be jealous of baby Helena.Charles is a dashing and athletic young man, obviously a Hapling prince, and still a student of his cousin Lionel. He is not at home in the palace much and so has no real relationship with Molly or the younger children. He cannot remember being Heir Apparent and does not miss the title, but he remembers and misses his mother. Of all the siblings, he agrees most closely with Adeline. He refers to the Queen as "My Lady" without fail, even after she has asked him to call her Molly. The triplets are still children, and though they look like Honora, they know only Molly as their mother. Much to Adeline's dismay, they call Molly "Mother" just like Arthur, Annabelle, Margaret, and Lionel do. Susannah looks up to her older sisters, but is rarely without the company of her brothers, Julian, Vincent, and Arthur. As such, she is a bit of tomboy and has a passion and talent for riding horses. Julian, Vincent, and Arthur are all three bright and brave boys, but a little mischievous.Annabelle wishes Susannah would spend more time with her, but instead she plays dolls and works on needlepoint with Margaret and her mother while Molly looks after Lionel and Helena.Helena, the newborn, is now the Heir Apparent. She has no twin, no triplet, and is a healthy babe. She seems to take after James, which the whole Kingdom finds to be a good omen, but James still feels unsettled and Adeline with him. Something is not right in Rossinest...
