Yes, both trashy and a burden. It doesn't help that I worked with a young woman named Angel who was rather unpleasant. She was the type who'd be over-the-top fakey-smiley and cheery to your face, then say nasty things behind your back.

Angela, Angelina, Angelica, Angelique (etc.) are all pretty, though, and I agree with previous posters that Angel would be fine as a nickname for one of those.
