[Opinions] Re: Anya or Anna?

I've known more Nicole's than any other girl's name near my age group. But most of them were two - four years younger than me. I knew only one in my age group. Most of them went by Nikki, Niki, Nicki or Nicky. My sister went by Nicole mostly and sometimes Nicky. She was born in 1990 but went to school with 1991 kids. I also knew a few Jessica's, Jennifer's, Megan's, Sophia's / Sophie's and Sarah's in my sisters age group, but I only knew one or two in my own age group. Most of the Jessica's in my age group went by Jessica. Most in her age group went by Jessie or Jess. Most of the Jennifer's in both our age groups went by Jen or Jenny. I also know many Jennifer's who were born in the 60's and 70's who go by Jen and Jenny. The one or two Megan's I knew went by Megan. Though I know at least one in my sister's age group went by Meg. I also knew some Megan's who were born in the 60's or 70's. They went by Megan mostly.
I knew many Melissa's who were older than me by a few years. Also many Chloe's and Caitlin's who were a few years older. As well as some Stephanie's and Amber's.
The most common name for me in my age group would either be Sarah or Laura / Lauren. Or maybe Julia / Julie or Christina / Kristina / Christine / Kristine which were also super common. I've known so many of all of these. I also know a lot of Michelle's and Ashley's. And many Allison's / Alison's / Alyson's. I also knew a bit of female Alex's and Sammie's, but they usually had many different spellings of Alex or Sammie. I knew an Alyx and a couple of Sami's. Victoria, Brianna, Stephanie, Kristin / Kristen, Raquel, Rachel, Kayla and Amber were all common names. I think either Laura / Lauren or Christina / Christine / Kristina / Kristine would win. I knew more Kristina's / Christina's than Kristine's / Christine's.
I know a ton of male Alex's and many Will's and Nick's. Tim, Sam, Dan, Chris, Matt and Micheal / Mike were pretty common as well. But Tim, Chris, Dan, Matt and Sam were not as common as Alex, Will, Nick and Micheal. Alex was definitely the most common name amongst my male peers through out my education. I'm uncertain what would take second place. Probably Micheal / Mike or Nick.
So for girls in my school class group Kristina / Christina. For boys Alex / Alexander. Oddly when I was a toddler we had a Kristina and an Alex. They moved around when I was 4 but we would often go visit them in Portland.
If I look at statistics for my own state in 1987 these don't match up. Though living in a city the naming trends are a bit different than the ones in the country. I feel like in the city I lived in people were a lot less likely to choose popular names.
In truth it was Jessica for girls and Micheal for boys. I don't personally know many Jessica's born in 1987, but I know a lot of Mike's and Micheal's.
