It doesn't matter if other people think it looks too trendy. It won't their THEIR kid.
Yes, I think Kaia looks less trendy, but Kaya is pretty.
I would assume it was spelled Kaia, just because that's what I've seen, but if it were Kaya it wouldn't be a big deal.
I would pronounce it KY-uh.
