Patrick and I met about 3 1/2 years ago in our hometown of Chicago, IL in Strictly Discs, the record shop I worked part time at. Patrick came in and we started talking. We became friends right away. We didn't start dating until an awkward confession at a New Year's party a year later. Pete, one of Patrick's best friends, was completely, uncharacteristically smashed, and took it upon himself to tell me that Patrick had a crush on me. Of course, I could not trust the drunk bassist's word, so I confronted Patrick about it. After a really awkward conversation involving many interruptions and a lot of blushing, we kissed, and have been inseparable ever since.
It was quite a surprise to find out I was pregnant, but Patrick was pleased. We became engaged a month prior to the discovery, and still haven't gotten around to getting married. Patrick's touring schedule is crazy, so we plan to get married this summer, while the band records their next album. The press coverage is more than I suspected. I didn't realize how much of a celebrity Patrick had become. The internet was especially brutal. Many of Patrick's hopeful fans weren't very kind to us and our predicament. Fortunately, Aiden is an adorable baby, so the picture Pete posted (without permission, I might add) on his Livejournal was well received.
Aiden, as I mention, is an adorable baby. We're hoping he won't inherit his father's balding, because he has a headful of dark brown hair that Patrick loves to style during bath time. As a result we have many photos of baby Aiden with a faux hawk. His eyes are big and blue and always looking at everything. He is a very curious baby, and enjoys music a lot.
We own a small apartment in Chicago, IL, but Patrick isn't around much. I'm currently attending University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago, and having quite the time balancing Aiden and school. Patrick's parents have been a great help.
