[Opinions] Re: Mhairi
I don't like it, mainly because I know it's not a legit name having studied Gaelic for awhile. No Scottish Gaelic speaker would name their child Mhairi because the name is Mairi (prn mar-ee). They add an H to names when they are addressing someone, so I would be called Mhalk if someone was addressing just me in a crowded room, but that doesn't change the name. Mhairi is used in southern Scotland occasionally and most people now know to prn it var-ee. But I realise that most people wouldn't know this fact, but it doesn't stop from putting me off the name.
