I dislike it because it's so similar to the word candy, which just makes it sound tacky - especially since candy isn't actually a word in this country, so it sounds cheesy and American.

Candace is nicer than Candice IMO - I pronounce them slightly differently (CAN-das vs. can-DEESE). I much prefer Cadence which is very similar but doesn't have the candy sounds and has a nice musical association.
