I've been on a Gloria kick for months now. I'd seriously consider it for my own child. And yep, Glo is the potential nickname. Gloria doesn't need a nickname, and actually Glore never even crossed my mind, but I agree with you that's it unappealing. Glo is so cute!

Other options could be Ria or Lori, though they're a stretch and nowhere near the awesomeness of Glo.
