I have an in-law (male) who emigrated to Canada (one of many);his name is two syllables and not remotely hard to say;nevertheless, he decided he would take on the nick-name of "Chuck".Didn't take, however,as most of his new friends were also ex-middle-east, and the family in Canada refused to say Chuck.
