I like it but I don't love it. I care for it the most when used as a mn. I actually prefer
Primrose as a mn compared to
Rose since
Rose is so over used as a mn.
The name makes me think of primroses, roses, and Evening
Primrose which is a beautiful scented flower that blossoms at night and is pollinated by moths in the moonlight. Evening
Primrose oil is often used in perfume and has some medicinal properties.
When I first considered the name
Primrose not long after reading the Hunger Games series I didn't care for it but this year I've started to really like it especially as a mn.
As a fn it is definitely cute but I feel it has subtly and substance other than just cuteness. Also it is less cute than
Poppy,
Daisy,
Daffodil,
Petunia, and
Meadow. It is about as cute as
Marigold,
Tansy, Lobelia,
Lavender, and
Lilac.
Primrose is definitely cuter than
Rose,
Lily,
Iris,
Violet,
Rosemary, and
Angelica but I don't feel that
Primrose is too cute for use.
Primrose and
Marigold feel like the perfect names for sisters, as fn's possibly too cute and themed for actual daughters but definitely not too cute as mn's. They have some nn's that are less cute which helps if they are used as fns although not all of the nn's are less cute. Prim,
Rose,
Rosa, and
Rosie for
Primrose.
Mara,
Mary,
Golda, and
Goldie for
Marigold.
It makes sense that
Primrose is becoming more used in England since names like
Poppy,
Daisy, and
Ruby are so popular there. The name
Rose is also becoming more popular in England.
