A point I've made before: In
John le Carre's Smiley books, there is a security officer known as
Fawn. No indication of whether it's a fn, ln, nn or pseudonym. He lives to perform acts of imaginative violence on anyone who steps out of line. His loyalty is total and unconditional, but he only knows one way of expressing it.
The contrast between the meek, pretty, fragile fawn and the violent thug
Fawn is very dreadful and very Le Carre.
