Yuck! It's way too sugar-sweet. I would say it's maybe not considered "trashy", but definitely not classic either.
The word "tindra" is usually used about shimmering eyes, but also about shimmering stars. You can talk about "tindrande barnaögon om julen" (children's shimmering eyes during Christmastime), for example. It's a rather poetic word.
