I never used to like Paloma, either because 1) it was the name of a character on a soap opera, "As the World Turns" methinks (I dislike soap operas in general), 2) it reminded me of 'melanoma' due to the shared endings. But then I watched a lengthy documentary of Pablo Picasso on A&E which touched on the subject of his 'Paloma', the dove which he drew that later became an international symbol of peace. Since then, for me, it's taken on a somewhat serene connotation. I like Sofía Liliana, too, because Liliana is such a beautiful name to me and plus lilies are a symbol of purity and innocence (and unfortunately mourning).
