David works in food-prep at a diner and, of course, wants to be an actor. In his spare time, he helps out at a local “artsy” theater and sometimes gets a stage role. He’s known for being rascal. Zoe works as a busgirl at a popular nightclub and, to everyone’s surprise, doesn’t want to be an actress. She wants to be a bartender. She’s always been a goofball and loves to make people laugh.
They were set up on a blind date by mutual friends the previous year and have been going steady since. They’re living in a small, crummy apartment but are very happy together.

Niall works as a psychometrist and is studying psychology in graduate school. He’s very busy but he doesn’t mind, he’s always prided himself on his moxie. She’s very soft-spoken and unpretentious which often surprises people.
They met in a hip café three years ago, not long after Genevieve arrived in California. They’ve been strong confidants since and their relationship eventually morphed into a romance.

Carlos has just begun work as an aviary keeper at the San Diego Zoo after six years of volunteering and internship. He was the first person in his family to go to college and is the eldest of seven siblings. Mary is a nurse, which is something no one in her affluent family ever expected. Throughout grade school she was known as spoiled and squeamish but she changed after recovering from a severe illness.
They met during a CPR training course last year and have recently moved into a comfy apartment together. Mary long expected Carlos to propose but she feigned excitement anyway.

Marcus is an artist who makes most of his money off of paintings of The Bay, but his true passion is sculpture. He ran away from home when he was fourteen and has lived with friends since. Georgia works as a yoga instructor, palm reader, and astrologist. Her friends often ask her for advice. Despite her enlightened appearance, she’s actually a bit of a scatterbrain.
They grew up in the same neighborhood and have had an on/off relationship for years. They’ve since matured and are now newlyweds living in a dozen-person co-op. Neither can imagine living without the other.
