I have good associations with women named Jamie in my own life, and I actually don't dislike it at all. It does feel dated, though. By the time my peers, including one very close friend growing up, were given the name, it was already on a downward trajectory. (My close friend, Jamie Alexandria, was named in honor of her father, James Alexander, who was killed before she was born.)I like it as a nickname for James. It feels timeless in a way that Jim/Jimmy most certainly don't.
