Year One: 1768
Constant Eliphalet Finch marries Phoebe Theodosia Woodbridge. Constant is a severe-looking man, with frizzy black hair and pale blue eyes. He's rather humble, and he's the physician for his small colonial settlement in Maryland. Phoebe is rather plain, with straight mousy hair and brown eyes. She's naturally very humble as well, and works with the other women of the settlement on the communal farm. When they get married, Phoebe's sickly mother, Patience Millicent Woodbridge, has to move in with them.

Year Two: 1769
A community widow passes away, leaving behind a nine-year old boy named Henry Isaac Tucker. Henry has curly dark brown hair and green eyes. Constant and Phoebe decide to adopt him into their family. Henry is a very creative boy who loves to write and tell stories.

Year Three: 1770
Phoebe gives birth to a baby boy! He looks just like Constant, with the same frizzy black hair and pale blue eyes. They name him Eliphalet "Eli" Gideon Finch.

Henry is pickpocketed by a traveling salesman on his way to town with Constant. Luckily, he wasn't carrying much.

A severe winter storm freezes all the crops, and times become very hard for the Finches. Eli catches pneumonia, but Constant is able to treat him.

Henry gets in trouble with the community government after being caught dancing with a girl, Temperance Keziah Blakemore. Constant takes up for him, though Phoebe is rather disappointed in her son.

Year Seven: 1774
Dazzling jewels, rich fabrics, and utensils of precious silver are being sold by a travelling merchant. Phoebe swoons over them, but she doesn't want to be materialistic. Even if she did, they don't have money to squander on useless trinkets.

Year Eight: 1775
Constant and Phoebe welcome fraternal twin girls! Their names are Edith Remember and Comfort Eliza Finch. Edith has wavy black hair and her mom's brown eyes. Comfort has wavy black hair as well, but she has her father's pale blue eyes. Eli has become a hot-headed young child, and Constant and Phoebe are having quite the trouble reeling him in. He loves to play in the garden.

Phoebe has identical twin boys! She names them Linus Azariah and Cyrus Malachi Finch. The boys have their mother's straight mousy hair. They have green eyes.

The Finches are burgled! Some of Constant's medical supplies are stolen, but everyone's okay, and they can be replaced.
