[Opinions] Me, Mel, and Linda
For as long as I can remember, in terms of paying attention to names and recognizing that I liked or disliked the sound of something... I've never liked Mel. Not on a guy (usually short for Melvin - which has always sounded comical to me), not on a girl (Melanie, Melissa, etc.), not on anybody. Which is odd, because I like Elle and El- names generally, and many of my favorite names begin with M. But combine the two, and I guess my mind says "yuck," lol!And then there's Linda. I'm sorry, but I can't stand Linda. I'm not fond of most -ind or -inda names, but it goes beyond the sound by itself: I've met some genuinely unpleasant Lindas. (Which, I suppose, was bound to happen given how popular Linda was during the Baby Boom.) Like, with the rise of the Karen meme, there I was sitting and thinking Karen should be replaced with Linda. (ETA: I don't like Belinda either, for the record.)Melinda combines these two elements into one name.I mean... Mindy is an option for a nickname. It's not my favorite, but it's better than Mel.Of your combos, I think these are good:Melinda Cecily
Melinda Hazel
Melinda Violet
Melinda Solveig
Melinda Harriet
Melinda Fern(I wouldn't pair Melinda with a middle that begins with a vowel.)***Please rate my personal name lists:www.behindthename.com/pnl/69381
