It looks like your message board has been set to the classic view (the pre-2021 looks). You can change the setting in your profile > Settings > Message Boards > Display Theme > then select "Grid (table, replies on one page, default)".

I went onto the settings and it is already on "Grid (table, replies on one page default)" But it still isn't showing.
Hmm, I am not exactly sure why that happened.
I suggest you to change your display to "Classic (indented list, replies are links)" > then press the "Save All Changes" button located at the bottom center of the page > then set again to "Grid (table, replies on one page, default)" > and then press the "Save All Changes" button again.

I've tried that but I don't know how to send a private message.
If you are using phone, then you can click the Menu button on the upper-right side of the site > then click "Private Messages", like this: 
If you are using computer, then you can hover over your mouse over the username button, and the "Private Messages" option will appear, like this:
