The only place I've heard this is in interviews with Aishwarya Rai, she pronounces it Eye-shwar-yah.

The pronounciation of an Indian name depends on the language in which you want: the correct one is indeed what the bearer of the name wants.
The Sanskrit word ultimately derives from Ish, to possess, cognate with German eigen, and is pronounced aishwaryaa. The first vowel there is a dipthong a as in about + i as in hit.
