[Opinions] Re: Birth Announcements - What do you think?
Do they only list fn's where you live?
And in your area, do all of the babies have outdated and nickname-y names??

The way my paper works, is that Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday they have a baby announcements supplement, where the names are just first names (so if there's two names listed, it's a double-first name). Thursday is the official birth announcement day, which means there may be names that were printed from the rest of the week, but now with middle names, and new announcements ones. On Thursday's, they also list the parents. During the other days, they only list the hospitals and/or midwife.I have noticed the nicknames a lot, too, but I don't agree with your "outdated" comment. What's outdated to you is fresh to others.

And this was rude tooI'm sorry, but it is.Many of those names are not outdated to me at all. And I happen to like most outdated names.Miranda

I was just asking a question (or two). She posts BA's a lot, and I was wondering why there were usually only fn's and she politely answered my question.
Sorry I accused some of the names of being outdated, I just found it odd to find so many names used on babies that are more commonly found right now on people in their 30's, 40's, etc. And the names listed are nn's instead of more formal names (not sure if that's the baby's formal fn or the nn was listed in the paper). Or maybe some of the parents' names were mixed in. It wasn't clear. For example:
Jeanne
Lisa
Cynthia
Marjorie
Janet
Paulette
Leslie
Lynn
Marion
Eileen
DeborahRon
Lee
Alfred
Leon
Frank
Jeff
Steve
Fred
EdI guess I'm the only one who found that odd. It doesn't really matter, I was just curious. Sorry to come off as rude. I'll have to watch that in the future, apparently.
