My daughter is Caroline. And I love Olivia and Jack. All solid, traditional names; old-fashioned classics. I love them all!

I love all three of these names.

Jack is the all American boy (tokened by Hollywood). Caroline is a pretty Southern Bell with blonde hair. Olivia is a bit shy and more of an artistic type.

My perception anyway. :)

I LOVE John (nn Jack), Caroline and Olivia. They are all classic, traditional and classy names. My kids are John and Caroline. Everyone comments on how beautiful and feminine Caroline is. It is not outdated AT ALL and could never in a million years be compared to Gertrude. I can not tell you how many compliments I get on my kids names because they are not unisex or made up or pretentious. I think the three names you mentioned go together well.

If you go to www.socialsecurity.gov, click on the portion for the baby names list. You will see an option for "top 5 by state". When you click into that, you will see another option for "top 100 by state".

My daughter's middle name is Mary (after my mom, Mary Jo). What is your daughter's mn? Why did you name her Caroline? My husband and I taught a Caroline Mary (he had her in 2nd and I had her in 3rd) and we fell in love with her. I love how feminine and classic it is. I think Caroline Grace sounds pretty though.

My daughter is Caroline Julia. I have loved Caroline since I was a little girl, and it makes me think of Ma on Little House on the Prairie. Caroline Grace sounds lovely, but both our grandmothers had sisters named Grace so we felt it wouldn't be right. But I think of Princess Grace, Princess Caroline. And also on LHOTP the baby sister was Grace! So some names just go together.
Julia was kinda-sorta for my DH's other grandmother, who was always called Jean but it said Julia on her birth record. But I just really liked it.

Julia is lovely too. Grace is really overused as a middle name. I think of royalty when I think of Caroline. That Miss Claire cracks me up, she uses every opportunity she can to say Caroline is like Gertrude. Have you seen the names she likes???!!She is a piece of work. Figures, she is French.

Jack is a bit plain, I prefer Jacob. Caroline is terribly outdated, a la Gertrude to me, Olivia is lovely, but I prefer Oliver on a boy, and Livia on a girl. I like the nn Ollie too.

Caroline is hardly outdated. It is #74 on the social security baby names list for 2004, and at #20 for my state. It's been a steady classic through the years, unlike Gertrude, which had a peak then practically fell off the charts.

I find Caroline very out dated sounding, probably as much as Gertrude. As a kid I had two turtles, and since I expected them to live to a very old age I gave them two "grandmother" names: Gilberte and Caroline. Sorry, just my opinion.

Actually, I would group the names Caroline and Claire in the exact same traditional, classic category.

I like Jack and Caroline. I don't care for Olivia - I don't see the appeal. I'd prefer the name Olivianna.

They sound very nice together. I like all of the names even though they're quite popular. They sound like they come from your typical middle or upper-middle class (or even upper-crust) American family.

Lol, so do I. I don't like Jack as a formal name, though. I prefer John or Jonathan with Jack as a nickname.
