(Wow!)
Tyler is enrolled at the county Alternative High School with Eli, Victor, and Cole - we didn't even want to attempt the public high school. He is in nineth grade, as the alternative school moved him back up after he failed seventh grade, and, although quite the loner, seems to be improving socially. He doesn't quite trust Daniel and Lillian, but he is beginning to warm to Preston. (Preston can be like another kid at times.) Tyler is doubtful about the other children, particularly Eli and Victor, who really are rather intimidating. Tyler has a goal of going back to the public school for eleventh grade, and he seems determined to reach that goal.
Simon is in eighth grade at the public middle school. (He failed sixth grade from spending so much time in the psych ward.) He is trying to be anti-social and friendless, but the other students seem unwilling to let him do so. One in particular, a boy from New York City named Liam, refuses to allow him to be a complete loner. Simon is wary of him, but he is beginning to warm up to him just a little. We have been very careful to make him take all his medication. Simon is very good at playing basketball from his wheelchair, but he refuses to join a team. Instead, he spends most of his time in his bedroom on the second floor drawing the scenery around the mansion.
Noah is in nineth grade at the public high school. He seems to like school, and the other students seem to like him, but he is a perfect image of the class clown. The teachers can't stand him most of the time, and we feel like we spend more time trying to get Noah's teachers to lay off than we spent trying to get Eli, Victor, and Cole to lay off their teachers. Sure, Noah might be annoying - but have the teachers forgotten how bad most of our kids were when they started school here? At least Noah never attacks anyone with a knife like Victor tried to do. At home, Noah gets along well with most of the others. He plays basketball with Eli, Cole, Daniel, and Preston most days after school, and he got a digital camera for Christmas this year.
