I think Jack is acceptable for a full name since it has been commonly used as a full name. It doesn't sound like a nn or childish to me. I might use Jack as a full name for one of my children. I love Jack, but really dislike John.

Molly, Polly and Sally, and anything that ends in -ie or -y should be a nn.
