Carol is both a male and a female name so works fine even though I personally wouldnt use it, Danielle is a feminine name full stop save it for a daughter.
If you want a name that sort of matches then at least choose another unisex name a few examples
Alexis
Ashley
Kelly
Kerry
Kim
Lesley
Lindsey
Stacey

I've also seen guys named Courtney and Shannon.

I have heard those names on guys too. I thought Shannon was a boy's name until I was like 12 because I had only heard it on guys. I still think it sounds funny on girls.
