She is going to have a terrible time once she hits middle school. Apart from the obvious alcohol, all I see is "randy". No good that I can see from come from that name.

I'm not a fan of the name Brandy but I feel I must go on the offense here:
It's a common enough name, at least well known enough among the younger generation, that I doubt she'll be teased for her name. As another poster noted, it was immensely popular in the 80s, plus there's a famous celebrity with the name. And, if the child is in America, I doubt anyone will even think of the word "randy."
No offense to you or your opinion, of course, it just irks me when people complain about a name like being detrimental to a child when there are kids out there with names like Violence and Murder, etc...
