1692: Goodman Save-Thee Wheeler and Goody Hannah Wheeler are Puritans living in the township of Salem in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Unfortunately, Goody Wheeler will not be living much longer. The citizens of Salem have declared that Goody Wheeler was bewitching her own son into a fever last year! This was confirmed when Goody Wheeler walked into the congregation hall for her trial and several young women began to act strangely. Goodman and Goody Wheeler’s eldest son has already been put to death, because he was obviously a stronger witch than Goody Wheeler and that is why she was trying to kill him; thus was Job drowned. Although Goody Wheeler was set to die soon, she was discovered to be pregnant. This blessing from God could not be expected to die because of the sins of the mother, so Goody Wheeler will be hanged after she gives birth.
Goodman Wheeler is distraught that both his wife and his eldest son are being/have been taken from him. Whether the babe is a boy or a girl, he’d like the baby’s name to be after both Hannah and Job.
