Help[Opinions] Challenge, finding full names for nicknames and spelling survey
Do you love any nicknames but can't find a full name for them that you love enough to put on a birth certificate? I have that problem. So I thought we could all list our nicknames, and don't forget to list the names you have already considered as full names. Then people can try to help you by finding new full names, maybe even some that aren't in the database.
Also say which full names you kind of like but aren't sure about. People can tell you what is great about them and you might appreciate them more!
Also you can add a spelling survey like I did. Answer to my post and those of the others. Have fun.

Kind of like: Alyssia but have gotten negative feedback. Too trendy etc
I know there are a billion of other Al-names but none I like. I have considered all the common options like all Alex-names, Alison, Alice, Alana, Allegra, Alia and the like. So if you know of any more unusual Al-names that I might like, maybe some that aren't in the database, suggest them please
Penny
Kind of like: Aspen nn Penny but most people don't make the connection between the two names. Love Aspen and Penny but Aspen nn Penny seems to confuse people.
Considered: Penelope, Peninnah, Penn, Pen
Charlie
Kind of like: Charlene, but people tell me it's trashy
Considered: Charlotte, Carlotta, Carla, Charlize, Charlena, Charlotta, Charline, Charla.

General question:
Do you prefer word names with an E on the end or do you prefer the original spelling? I usually prefer the original spelling but people have told me that the names are not name-y enough that way and that I should add an E. But I sometimes think that word names look misspelled when you attach an E. Opinions?
In particular (all girls):
Brook or Brooke?
Rain or Raine?
Sky or Skye?
Oh and does anyone know why it is popular to change spellings, especially attaching the E, to nature names but not to other word names? For example Skye is more common than Sky, Brooke is more common than Brook but people hardly ever use something like Faithe or Grayce. Just wondering.

For yours:
Ally - I really like Allegra. I would also suggest Alexandra / Alessandra / Alejandra.
Penny - Penelope is my favorite. Maybe Penarwan (character in Triads of the Island of Britain)?
Charlie - Charlotte is my favorite. I don't really have any other suggestions for this one.
Jessie - Jessica, Jessa and Jessamine are my favorites. I have a cousin named Jessina "Jessie".
I don't have a rule of thumb on word names. From your example, I prefer Brooke, Rain and Sky.
Aquinnah - 5 - I have issues trying to pronounce it.
Estella - 9 - I love it, but slightly prefer Estelle.
Emmeline - 10 - Perfect!
Shea - 7 - It's nice enough.
Cleo - 7 - Same as above. Also, I know a lady who keeps calling my sister (whose name is Chloe) Cleo.
Sky(e) - 7 - I like it better than Skyler / Skylar, as these are super trendy here.
Brook(e) - 3 - I'm not a fan, negative association.
Rain(e) - 7 - It gives me the impression of calm for some reason.
Keeley / Keely - 3 - Negative association.
Phoebe - 8 - I think it's sweet and sophisticated at the same time.
Esther - 7 - I like it, but some days I feel like it's too old lady.

I like Ally as a nn for Alexa. It could be cute for something like Dalia too, but it's harder to think of names with an "al" sound in the middle off the top of my head. Alyssia bothers me because it feels slippery. Like you might fall off while you're saying it :P
I like Penny by itself! Maybe as a nickname for Priscilla? I think it's a nice balance to the, well, prissiness of Priscilla, although I do love the name.
Charlie I don't like on a girl. One of those names that I love on a boy and it just makes me sad when it's used on girls. I don't think Charlene is trashy though.

Ally - I LOVE Alannah with the nickname Ally. I also really like Allegra. Alaia could also work.

Billie works on its own, in my opinion. How about Willa or Willow, though? Wilhelmine? Wilma?

Ally: Well this I can see has working on its own since my sisters name is Ali – pronounced the same – and not short for anything. Perhaps Alberta, Alessandra, Briallen, Calliope, Callista, Gale, Cally, Hallie, Mallory, Sally, Talia, Valerie, Aliannah
Penny is one I also can see as working on its own if there is no full name that you like. Penka is the only thing I can really think of. It’s a stretch but maybe Peony.

I've known an Allyona (Alyona) and an Alastriona who used Ally as a nickname. I like Alastriona in particular, but they are both nice names that aren't common at all. If they're too cultural for you, I suppose you can also use Ally for Alice if that kind of name floats your boat.
No new ideas for Penny, Charlie, or Jessie, but I think Penelope, Charlotte, and Jessamine are the best full names for those diminutives. I like Aspen but it would be confusing as a full name for Penny.
