[Opinions] Re: Valentine

Aw.
I have to say this is among my guiltiest of pleasures. I love it for a boy but I'm also drawn to it for sentimental reasons for a girl. My favorite aunt was born on Valentine's Day so she was christened Joan Valentine. And now my niece, Clare Siobhan (Siobhan = Joan) has taken Valentine as her confirmation name.
I try to assuage my gender-bending with the idea that Valentine is also a French girl's name, but with the "-een" sound at the end. And now you've taken that fig leaf away. See, if I say I like it then I've got literally years of comments about not taking traditional males names away from parents of little girls. Shshshshshs! Is there any way I can keep my hypocracy on this quiet? No?
Well. Yes. I like Valentine (with the English pronunciation) for a girl. There. Are you happy?
:-P
