[Opinions] Birth announcement... Our daughter
Replies
My husband's mother is half Polish, and we considered using a Polish name ever since Noah, our oldest, was born, but we never found the right one until we came across Janusz. Personally I LOVE Polish names and spellings, but it's pretty hard to find a name that doesn't sound too strange and won't be mispronounced or spelled the wrong way the entire time. So I think Oliwia is pretty too, but we never seriously considered it, because it would be too complicated for most people. We notice it with Janusz too, we often have to spell his name or say it a few times before people understand. I don't regret naming him Janusz, but we didn't want that again.
Just a quick question...how do you pronounce Janusz and Salka? I've never come a cross either before seeing them at the end of your posts.
Salka is pronounced SAH-lka, Janusz is pronounced JAH-noosh. Does that make sense to you, or should I explain it better? :-)

That is a nice combo. Like someone else said, it's spunky.

Congrats! I adore Olivia, and Pauline makes a spunky middle name.
Hope you and Olivia are both doing well.

Yay congrats! How are you and Olivia doing?
I don't remember that combo. Was it one you had talked about on here previously?

I had talked about it here. We had already decided on Olivia then, but we were stuck on a middle name.
Olivia is pretty, and it goes quite well with your sibset too!
I must admit, I'm pretty curious about the origins of the name Salka. It's really interesting.

Icelandic Nobel Prize author Halldór Laxness wrote a novel called Salka Valka (I haven't read it).
This page says it's a form of Sara:

It's a lovely name. And I like that it rhymes with the Swedish word svalka, which means "coolness" as in "the coolness of the summer evening"...
