Yes it is ridiculous. Although who am I to talk, being named Georgia? However, Georgia at least derives from the name George.

Georgia was a name before it was a state, so it doesn't count.

I agree. If it was a name before a state, it doesn't count. However, I think we can all agree that there are some names that now that they are a state are not good options. Georgia NOT being one of them.
