Shinko ia an Americanization of Hungarian Simkó (see tinyurl.com/qhwbqoh) which is derived from Simon. What looks like a geminate in Shinnko is probably an .

Thanks! My great-grandmother's mother's maiden name was Sabana. Any idea where that came from and what it means?

Mr. Sabana is listed as being born in Czechoslovakia, too.
