They are the names of the monstrous furies in mythology, so I wouldn't use them, but I think they sound so pretty. I would never think they were hideous snake beast women when first hearing their names!

I don't think I can pronounce any except Alecto, and I don't like that at all, so I don't know what to think.

I'd assume: meg-AIR-ah, which is nice, and tis-ih-FONE-ee, which I don't like.

You are right about Alecto and Tisiphone. Megaera is closer to Me-JEE-rah, though, with the J like the French in jolie.
