I don't really like Albert, because I don't care for the "bert" syllable, but Al is a friendly nickname, so I give it half a thumbs up.
Gerald is really fuddy-duddy.
Patricia is a pretty name. Yes, it was ridiculously popular, and it's still ridiculously common, since there are many adult women named Patricia around. But I can see why it was so popular. It's soft and pretty. The issue with me is that I don't care for Pat or Patty as nicknames, but Tricia and Trish are just fine.
Sylvia is one of my favorite names. So crisp and shiny.
