I was a geography major and I think geographical names are neat, and of the cardinal directions I think North makes the best name. I wouldn't use it as a first name, though, because of the association with the Kardashians and Kanye, which is unfortunate. Might make a cool middle name though.

I actually think of two other associations (besides the direction) before I think of North West. One, the main character in the book The Gracekeepers was a girl named North. Two, there's a musical artist called Sleeping at Last who I really enjoy, and he did an Atlas project with songs named/themed after things like locations and directions and planets, and so one of his songs is called North and I think about/listen to it all the time because it's gorgeous.
