[Opinions] Re: Artemis and Diana
Diana is nice. I've not known many so I associate it mainly with Princess Diana, which isn't a bad association. Artemis is one I love, and Artemisia is easily a top 10 favorite for me. Like if I were pregnant today that would be near the top of my list for a baby girl. But if my SO was more into Artemis than Artemisia I would be fine with that too. It has a subtle strength to it I like a lot. Probably helps I grew up around a lot of Greeks and, while Christian, they actually used a lot of ancient Greek names in their families (and a lot of Christian names too, of course), including the names of gods, and that helped normalize a lot of these sorts of names to me. Knowing real women, strong women I admire, who bear these names has definitely made me love these names more.eta: forgot to comment on them as a sibset! I think Artemis and Diana sound nice as a sibset, mainly because I like the idea they're different names for similar (or the same) god. This isn't like giving kids variations of the same name, Diana and Artemis are wholly different names, so I think that's passable. Maybe the only issue would be most people would hear those two names and think of them as wildly different because Diana is a "normal" name in present day while Artemis isn't, and most don't automatically think of the goddess association (probably because of Princess Diana). But I think they're lovely together.
